10 M 28 12:00 VISITED SHERPUR AT INSISTENCE OF SHAHINUL ISLAM. DAMAGE REPORTED TO TELEMETRY CABINET AND PANEL. LEFT TWX OFFICE FOR SHERPUR AT 10:00 AM - 4.5 HR DRIVE. SWINGING MODULE RACK HAD BECOME UNHINGED DURING SHIPMENT OVER ROUGH ROADS. IT HAD BOUNCED AROUND ABRADING THE EXTRUDED ALUMINUM TRIM AND COVER PLATES, BENDING THE SCREWS AND TEARING THE WIRES ON THE BACK OF THE ALARM PANELS. THE RETAINING BRACKET WAS CRACKED, THE TOP BRACKET WAS LOOSE, AND THE SIDE BRAISES IN THE CABINET WERE BENT. THE CABINET WAS SCRATCHED. TWO OF THE LOGIC RELAYS WERE DESTROYED AND THE ELCO CONNECTORS FROM THE ALARM MODULES TO THE ALARM WERE BENT AND THE CASE OF ONE WAS CRACKED. SEVERAL SCREWS WERE MISSING FROM THE TERMINAL BLOCKS.

2. REPAIRED, REBUILT ELCO CONNECTORS, STRAIGHTENED
KEEPER SCREWS AND STRAIN RELIEF. ALL POINTS
EXHIBITED CONTINUITY ON DIGITAL MULTI METER (DMM).
3. STRIPPED, TWISTED, WIRE NUTTED AND TAPED THE
SEVERED WIRES. CONFIRMED CONTINUITY WITH DMM.
4. USED BLANK PANEL SCREWS TO REMOUNT LOOSE
TELEMETRY RACK.
5. USED EXTRA TERMINAL BLOCK (TB) SCREWS TO LAND
SEVERED WIRES.
THE TELEMETRY CABINET SITS BY A WINDOW, NO SHADE. THE METAL TOWARD THE WINDOW WAS QUITE WARM TO THE TOUCH. THERE IS ANOTHER WINDOW ON THE OPPOSITE WALL - ABOUT 6' AWAY. WITH THE WINDOWS OPEN THE CABINET IS ESSENTIALLY OUTSIDE. THE SAME IS TRUE OF THE TERMINATING CABINET FOR THE METERING EQUIPMENT.
THERE WAS NO ELECTRIC POWER AT THE SITE AND NO GENERATOR - ALSO NO RUNNING WATER, THE GUARDS WERE COOKING WITH WOOD ON THE FLOOR AND SLEEPING ON THE DESKS AND ON WOODEN PLATFORMS WITH THIN PADS. GOATS AND CATTLE WERE GRAZING IN THE PIPE FIELD. THERE WERE NO SANITARY FACILITIES.
